We build our own apps, and run the servers behind them
Anke LLC is a small engineering company registered in Wyoming. We make consumer software for phones and computers, and we look after everything it connects to.
The short version
One product, four platforms, released together, sold by subscription.
What we do
We are not an agency and we do not resell anyone else's software. We build our own product, sell it to consumers by subscription, and keep it running.
Client applications
Android in Kotlin, iOS, and a desktop client written in Rust. The desktop build ships as a signed Windows installer, and for Linux as deb, rpm and AppImage packages.
Backend and API
A Python service on PostgreSQL. It holds accounts, entitlements and subscription state, and it is also what our support staff work in. The API only ever gains fields, so a client installed two years ago still works against it.
Production infrastructure
Servers in five countries that we set up and run ourselves. Configuration goes out to one half at a time, so nobody is disconnected while it happens, and certificates renew on their own.
Subscription billing
Regional prices, prorated upgrades, retries when a card fails, receipt checks against Apple and Google. All of it is our code rather than a plugin.
Customer support
Our own staff, not an outsourced desk. Reachable from inside the apps, from the website and by email, in English, Russian and Chinese.
Organization accounts
A company can buy a block of seats under one administrator, who handles the subscription while employees just sign in. We added this because customers kept asking for it.
How the business works
The parts a bank or a payment processor usually asks about.
Where the money comes from
Customers pay a monthly subscription for our applications. They can cancel whenever they like, and we show the renewal amount and the date before the first payment goes through.
Purchases made inside the apps go through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Purchases made on our website go through a licensed processor, on that processor's own hosted form. No card number ever reaches us.
How we deal with customers
- Terms, privacy policy, refund policy and acceptable use are all published.
- Automatic renewal is shown on the purchase screen, before payment.
- We answer chargebacks with the transaction record instead of letting them go by default.
- Releases are signed and versioned, and clients update themselves.
- Legal, privacy, security and compliance each have their own mailbox, with a person behind it.
Built by the people who run it
Whoever writes the client also looks
after the server it talks to
We hold very little
No name, no email address and no
card number ever reaches us
Watched every day
Five countries of infrastructure,
with changes we can undo
Talk to us
A telephone number that reaches the company, and a person behind every mailbox. We answer within one business day.
